Health benefits of avocado

Avocados are classified as a superfood for a reason. Besides being extremely delicious and insanely versatile, they also benefit our bodies in many amazing ways.

Here are some of the top health benefits of avocado:

  • Heart health support. Avocados contain high doses of a plant sterol called beta-sitosterol, which maintains cholesterol levels and supports heart health.
  • Eyesight enhancement. There are phytochemicals in avocados that protect the eye tissues from damage, including exposure to ultraviolet rays.
  • Pregnancy support. Folic acid is essential for a healthy pregnancy, and we’re lucky that avocados are bursting with it. Not only that, but avocado contains tons of fatty acids that support the healthy growth and development of the fetus.
  • Decreased depression. Certain studies have found a link between low folate levels and depression, and as I mentioned, avocados are a great source of folic acid.
  • improve digestion; Avocados are rich in fiber, which is great for maintaining the digestive system, preventing constipation, and reducing the risk of colon cancer.
  • Protection from chronic diseases. The monounsaturated fatty acids in avocados may help protect against some chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and some digestive diseases.

  • Microgreens. Small greens and sprouts are basically the kids’ versions of your favorite vegetables. Interestingly enough, they are higher in nutrients than those found in adults! They also add loads of delicious flavors and fresh flavors to your wrap.
  • Pea sprouts. Pea sprouts add a little fun to these rolls, and just like baby greens, they are packed with essential nutrients and enzymes.
  • Raw sunflower seeds. Raw sunflower seeds add tons of fiber, healthy fats, nutrients, and a great crunch to our rolls. I also love the nutty flavor!
  • Homemade ranch sauce. This delicious homemade ranch dressing recipe consists of mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, unsweetened nut milk (or water), garlic, onion powder, dried parsley, fresh dill, fresh chives, salt, and pepper.

Here are some of my favorite ways to make these wrappers yourself:

  • protein. If you’re looking to put together these wrappers, feel free to add your favorite protein. Personally, I recommend some nitrate-free roasted turkey or chicken nuggets.
  • cheese. Shredded Parmesan cheese, fresh mozzarella, or even feta cheese would be very tasty additions to these avocado rolls.
  • salsa; To give these rolls a Mexican-inspired twist, try adding your favorite salsa recipe. I love the pico de gallo or the restaurant-style salsa over the mine.

How to store avocado rolls (and keep them from browning!)

Fresh avocados can elevate almost any dish, from chili dishes to sandwiches and tacos.

However, once you slice this delicious little fruit, your window to enjoy it begins to shrink. And if you’ve ever tried stocking avocado salads or sandwiches, you know the struggle from trying to keep bright green avocados from turning brown.

So, what exactly is going on there?

Well, the answer is actually quite simple. In short, avocados contain an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase, which is what makes them brown when exposed to oxygen.

Therefore, in order to keep your avocados wonderfully fresh and green, you need to store them in a way that best protects them from exposure to oxygen.

To keep avocado slices safe, there are a few tricks you can try:

  • stamped In an airtight container or storage bag, or wrap tightly in plastic wrap. You can leave the hole inside or remove it, just make sure the casing is snugly tight.
  • Squeeze a little lemon Or lemon juice through the pulp of an avocado before placing it in an airtight storage container. This works because citrus fruits are high in ascorbic acid, which slows down the spoilage and browning of foods like avocados.
  • Grease it with oil To create a barrier against oxygen. Olive oil or vegetable oil should do the trick.
  • Save it with onions. Besides being an interesting blend of flavors, onions contain sulfur compounds that slow down the oxidation process and fight browning. Slice an onion, place it along the bottom of an airtight container, then stack the avocado slices on top.

Because these rolls come together in a jiffy, I recommend putting them together right before serving.

If you use one of these tricks, you should be able to store avocado slices in the fridge for them up to 2-3 days, And homemade ranch dressing can be refrigerated for it up to 5-7 days.
